Why Baltimore’s Blitz Packages Are Breaking Protection Schemes
Opposing quarterbacks are running out of answers. Baltimore’s pressure packages are creating free rushers at one of the highest rates in the league.
The disguise game
The Ravens show one look and bring another. Safeties creeping down, linebackers mugging gaps, corners threatening — then the actual rush comes from somewhere else entirely.
The numbers
Pressure rate is up, time-to-throw against is down, and the sack total is climbing. More importantly, the hurried throws are producing turnovers.
The counter
Offenses will adjust with quicker throws and max protection. Baltimore’s answer has been to win even against extra blockers — a sign this is talent-driven, not just scheme.
